Yesterday I was able to check out the 2010 Honolulu Festival at the convetion center. Haven't had time to download the pictures and video that I shot, but I'll try to do that tomorrow.
It was the first time I attended this little cultural sharing event, and I found it interesting. People from all over came to share their customs through song, dance, film and demonstrations. I was totally hoping there'd be tons of food booths. However, I was disappointed in that aspect.
While there, I caught a few performances on the inner and outer stages, cruised through the craft tables and watched the movie Hula Girls. The movie was awesome and my review can be found at Movie Addicts Club. I wanted to stay for the second movie, Departures, but I didn't really have time. I'm still planning to watch it via Netflix though and will definitely post a review.

Community Classes
I decided that I needed to get out more in 2010 and what better way to do that than to take some classes in the community. I looked through the adult ed classes offered through some of the nearby schools as well as activities offered through the City and County of Honolulu Parks and Recreations and decided on ukulele lessons.
I'm borrowing my sister-in-law's ukulele for the classes. I cannot believe she gave me her Kamaka! I don't think it'll help improve my playing though LOL I have also shanghaied my friend Elle into coming along with me so this should be pretty fun. There may be up to 20 students in the class, but I hope it's smaller. We need to register tomorrow for the class.
I am also considering a self-defense class for women. I figure it might come in handy one day, right? You never know what kind of creep is lurking in the shadows. I'm not sure what they'll teach in this class though so I plan to ask about it when we register for the ukulele class.
Since I may be doing these two classes I decided to cut back on my hours at JCCH. I'll need the time to practice the ukulele, watch movies and update my movie blog and try to update this blog.

Five Readers A Reality?
I just found out that hemajang, one of the (very few) readers of my other blog called Movie Addicts Club, suggested the blog to one of the Advertiser's bloggers. Is that the most confusing sentence or what? Anyway, he said she told him she'd be contacting me. We'll see what happens since they already have a movie blog among their ranks. It would be pretty awesome to have my own blog on the Advertiser. It'll make closing in on my goal of five regular readers a possibility and not just a dream! LOL! I'll keep you posted.

Movie Addicts Club On Twitter
I signed up my Movie Addicts Club blog on Twitter so click HERE to check it out or follow me. I'm not really sure how to use this thing though.
The concept is pretty simple - update it with asinine or mundane movie-related stuff. But who the hell really wants to know that? Completely puzzling, but I suppose people do want to know because I've already got some followers. However, most of 'em are probably spam accounts, judging from the nicknames they're using.
I'm following some big-name movie stars, and when I have time I'll try to track down some more. It's hard to tell whether they're real or not though. Some of the accounts are "verified" so I take it that it's the actual actor or actress. The others aren't verified so it could be some 12-year-old kid in Overland Park, Kansas for all I know.
Ah well, such is life. I'll play ball with this for a bit and see if anything comes of it.
